How many URLs can a sitemap contain?
A single file supports up to 50,000 URLs and 50 MB uncompressed; split larger sites into multiple sitemaps with an index file.
Do I need lastmod in sitemap entries?
lastmod helps crawlers spot updates when accurate; the generator can stamp today's date or you can omit it if unknown.
